You've got to love going out to eat at a great "dive" out in the country with yummy batter fried fish, cheese curds, and some Leinie's.
As I was watching all of the families, couples, etc. filter in, I notice they'd stop at one or two tables along the way and without fail, one of the first questions they asked was "how much rain did you get?" See, it rained here this afternoon - just for a few minutes, but it did rain. As far as I can tell the answers varied from 1/10th of an inch (at our house says dad) to 1/2 inch (less than a mile away from our house). The part that cracked me up is that everyone KNEW exactly how much rain was in their gauge! I understand that the amount of rain is rather important as most of these people count on it for their livelihood, it just struck me a little funny that it was the first thing everyone asked about. Wil and I have no rain gauge, would never remember to check it, and if we did remember to check it wouldn't be accurate 'cause we forgot to empty it last time. In the Oregon rainy season, it's safe to say "it rained A LOT" and leave it at that.
We had a great dinner - I LOVE a good fish fry! Joel, Carrie, and the girls met us out there and we had a fun time together.
Let's see if I can catch you up on what else is happening and share some pictures too.

Graham had a hard time getting to sleep Wednesday night - way overstimulated and a little freaked by being in the basement I think...but once he got to sleep, he was out until 9:45 the following morning - NICE! Mom and Dad were at work and Wil slept in, so once G was up we had breakfast, played a little, then got ready to head into town and have lunch with Nana at DQ and then walk around downtown a little as it was "Crazee Days" - good times :)
We struggled to get G to nap in the afternoon, but he was soooo tired. Finally got him down and he slept until Papa came home from work. Papa was picking peas in the garden so I offered to shuck and I introduced Graham to raw peas for the first time - yummy! I used to devour these things as a child and even took some to hide under my bed to eat after bedtime - little strange huh?? Graham seemed to enjoy them too - here's a little photo montage of the pea process....
From left to right....Papa/Dad picking the peas, Jess shucking the peas, Graham and Papa taking the pea pods back to the garden to dump....and at the bottom, Graham eating the peas. He kept coming back to get more.
Graham had lots of fun playing outside - Papa and Nana have an awesome sandbox!
Dad also has a beautiful yard with a huge garden and loads of flowers...none of the pictures I took do it justice so I'll have to try again another day.
My brother and his family came for dinner - we grilled out hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats...then there was more playing outside. Graham was pretty dirty last night after "swimming" in the sand...seems a bit confused....so he had a nice bath before bed. We tried a new bedtime location and moved his playpen up into the little bedroom upstairs next to Nana and Papa - MUCH better. He fell asleep shortly after putting him down, but did wake up this morning a little earlier than I would have liked.
July 25, 2008 - Friday
We hung out around the house today and just relaxed - I've been feeling a bit tired and maybe jet-lagged...kind of strange for me, but I'm heading to bed early tonight and let G know that we were all sleeping in tomorrow :)
Aubrie came to play with us this afternoon - she is SUCH a big girl all of a sudden and does so well with Graham. It must be hard to have him and her sister (5 months older than G) running around getting into all of your stuff and knocking down your awesome Lincoln Log creations - she's quite the trooper.
As I mentioned earlier we had a great dinner together at the Lone Pine and then Graham went right to bed when we got home. I'm supposed to be going to sleep now, but it occurs to me that my anniversary is tomorrow and I'd like to have something special to put up on the blog....we'll see how that goes. Off to work on that quickly right now. 'Night all!
