Define sleeping in....

So today was my day to Sleep In for the Cure - I know no one else will think this is sleeping in, but I didn't wake up until 6:30 this morning!  And even better than that - when I woke up there was complete silence on the baby monitor. I had another 1/2 hour to myself to just read and lounge in bed before G was ready to get up.  So while that doesn't really sound like sleeping in for most, it was a nice change of pace for me as I'm usually awake at 5:30 and up and moving by 6:00.

 

My mom and sister-in-law are in Madison, WI today, and I'm willing to bet that they weren't sleeping in today as they are participating in the Race for the Cure. They are definitely in my thoughts, as is the reason why we are "passionately pink for the cure"....Aunt Marg :)  Thanks to those that contributed to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to show support as we walked and slept in today. 

Sleep In for the Cure

I'm a little bummed because my mom and sister-in-law are doing the Race for the Cure in Madison (Wisconsin) at the end of May. I was really hoping to go and make it a fun "girl's weekend", but with plane tickets costing what they do, it just doesn't seem to be the right time for a trip like this. They signed up for the race and my mom pointed out a fun little way that I can be part of the action....

Can't make it to this year's Race? Work nights? Or just want to sleep in on Saturday morning? You can still participate by signing up for "Sleep In for the Cure®" and receive your t-shirt by mail after the Race.

Perfect!! I can definitely do that :)  I went ahead and registered, so I will definitely be there in spirit, but my body will be tucked into my big comfy bed. AND I'll get a t-shirt for my lack of effort - awesome! 'cause I know you really want to know....

....I did get my shower this morning. But the funny part is that after I fed Graham at 6am he went right back to sleep and I had to wake him up to take him to daycare. I'm telling you - just when you think you know what's going on....

So I heard about this on the news this morning:

The “Think Pink” initiative is a global, united effort for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities, and beyond. In 2007, the inaugural year of the campaign, “Think Pink” was an immediate success with over 120 schools participating. This year more than 600 schools have signed on for the second-annual event.

Oregon Women's Basketball will host a “Think Pink” game on Saturday, February 9th, joining the WBCA in bringing awareness to the fight against breast cancer.  Here are a few of the things going on at the game....

Wear Pink!
Duck fans are encouraged to wear pink to Mac Court, and the first 500 fans in attendance will receive free pink T-shirts and key chains.

Raffle for Prizes
In an effort to raise more money for the cause, fans will receive a raffle ticket for every $5 that is pledged or donated. There will be "Think Pink" basketballs autographed by the Oregon Women's Basketball team, warm-up jerseys, and many other unique items raffled off throughout the event.

Pack Mac Challenge
$1 for every ticket purchased for the game will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Head Coach Bev Smith is issuing a challenge to all Oregon fans to pack Mac Court on February 9, and lend your support for the WBCA’s courageous cause by wearing pink. The 1 p.m. game against California is scheduled to be broadcast on Fox Sports Net.
