We slept in and were fairly lazy on Saturday as we adjusted to the new time zone and recovered from our travel day. One of the first things on our "to do" list was to go see Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa. Graham and Nana walked, while I rode with Papa and Ellie on Papa's ATV (the Rhino). This was the view as we came out of the garage...pretty awesome!
We had a nice visit with Great-Grandma/pa and Auntie Rose. Rose is here helping Grandma and Grandpa pack up some things at their house as they will be moving to a very nice assisted living facility while we're here.
Graham wanted to walk home with Nana too, so I rode the Rhino back with Papa and Ellie, taking a quick tour of the farm too. Once we were home, mom and I started working on lunch while the kids went out to the garden with dad.
Dad's garden is HUGE, and the kids were really looking forward to seeing what is growing out there. Ellie specifically remembered Papa letting her pick and eat broccoli from the garden when we were here visiting last summer.
After lunch the cousins came over to visit and the kids were all very excited to hang out together.
We moved the party outside and I managed to get this shot of everyone (with the exception of Aubrie, who was hanging on the patio with the adults). The exciting part of this photo is that they were all getting along for one moment in time :)
The cousins returned to the campground for one more night, and we grilled some dogs and brats for dinner. Mom made potato salad for me - definitely one of my favorite summer meals here at "home". Graham and Ellie kept riding/parking in front of the gril and back door, so Graham decided to make some 'no parking' signs and Papa helped him get them hung.
When it was time, Papa helped with the bedtime routine by reading with Ellie...
They had a little trouble getting to sleep, but all in all I think we're adjusting pretty well to our vacation surroundings.
On Sunday we had a nice, big breakfast (as is tradition for Sunday mornings). Later on in the morning the boys and girls went their separate ways. Graham and Papa went fishing with Joel and Mara, and I went with mom, Ellie, Auntie Rose, and Auntie Linda to go see Great-Grandma/pa's new place.
I'm told everyone had a great time fishing - Graham even managed to catch a couple on his own!
Sunday night is pizza night (another tradition that I like to enforce) so we all gathered at Joel and Carrie's for dinner. All of the kids ate first, so I managed to get a picture of ALL of the cousins together.
The adults ate in the next shift and then we had some DQ Dilly Bars for dessert. Definitely a great way to get our Wisconsin vacation started!
