This week has been Spirit Week at G's school, and similar to last year we've had crazy hair day and the jog-a-thon to start off the week.
Graham's been asking about crazy hair day periodically ever since they had crazy hair day last year. I'm not exactly sure why, but he LOVES it! I tried my hand at the green spikes this year (Faith helped last year) and they turned out well I think...
Graham also invited me to join him for lunch - he tells me that he's seen moms having lunch with their kids and he would like me to do that too. HAPPY to do it and will jump on the opportunity while it's still "cool" to have a parent come eat with you!
It was fun seeing him in this environment and I was extra proud to hear him say "thank you" to the lunch lady that put chicken nuggets on his plate :) I enjoyed chatting with some of his peers during lunch and got to open up a lot of containers that kids were struggling with. After lunch I went out to recess with G and watched him play wall ball for a little bit. So glad I have opportunities to spend time with him like this.
On Tuesday we had the jog-a-thon and I was able to break away from work long enough to cheer G and his classmates on.
They get a half hour to run as many laps as they can - some have donated flat amounts to the cause (thanks so much to those that donated!) and some have pledged a certain amount per lap. Last year G ran 8 laps, so he decided that this year his goal would be 10 laps.
He started off strong, but needed some encouragement along the way....
He also did a couple laps with his buddy Roman (both seen here running with the principal!)
Can I just pause here a minute and tell you how much I love these two....so fun :)
When it was all said and done, G had run 12 laps!
That's a lot of running for those little legs! He was super proud of his accomplishment and so was I - it wasn't easy, but he stuck with it :)
The class enjoyed their otter pops after running and I headed back to work, again so thankful that I'm able to slip away to participate in these activities.
