I've been wanting to lighten up things in my kitchen for awhile - not the room itself, 'cause the natural light in there is really awesome thanks to tons of windows...but I really wanted to change up the dishes.
I found myself completely drawn to the colors in this kitchen that I found while browsing pinterest...
My kitchen walls are a little bit darker than this and maybe have a touch more green in them...but they are definitely similar....
I got some plastic dishes for the kids at Target awhile back that were aqua, greenish-blue, greenish-yellow, and yellow, and I loved the way they all went together and looked in the kitchen.
For my birthday, my mom offered to help pay for new dishes. After shopping around I found what I wanted at Cost Plus World Market. I waited for the dinnerware to go on sale and got this for my kitchen:
I loved the square plates, but the square bowls were a little small, so I went with a round one. I got half blue and half green glasses to mix it up a little, and the yellow placemats were on super clearance, so I had to get those too :)
The napkins weren't on sale, but I fell in love with them - they have a lot of the colors that I want to put together in the kitchen....the green, the light blue, the yellow, and the touch of red..love 'em!
I like the idea of going with the white dishes and then using color in the accessories - much easier to change out with changes of mood and seasons :)
Huge thanks to mom and dad for the birthday present - the new goodies are making me very happy!
