At the very end of June, Ellie and Graham started swimming lessons - Ellie as a "penguin" and Graham as a "tadpole". Tonight was our last swimming lesson for this summer...
(special thanks to Pa-Paw for re-working his plans to step in and help out!)
Ellie has had her ups and downs in the pool, sometimes all within minutes or seconds of each other! I had to laugh when I got her "report card"
I laughed at first because the instructors didn't have to spend much time with Ellie to totally nail her personality....and then I started doing the nervous/hysterical laugh, because I realized this child isn't really even 2 yet! What on earth am I going to be in for this next year?!
Ellie was a little more outgoing on Monday night when I was in the pool with her, and even went off (got dropped off) the diving board! Tonight she willingly went with the instructors (most of the time)...
....and she even did a lot of good swimming/kicking for me!
The whole point of lessons at this age is to just get them in the water and get them more comfortable with it. I definitely saw improvements from day one, so mission accomplished!
Graham's swimming report had far fewer words written on it - Daniel just got right to the point....
I'm so happy with how Graham did this summer - last summer it was a struggle to even get him to get into the pool with the group and/or instructor.
(FYI - that's not Daniel....he was gone the last week of lessons and this is his sub...I forgot her name!)
Definitely not the case this summer....he enjoyed a lot of fun games and activities, and has made great strides in being more comfortable getting his head/face wet. Here he is swimming with his new little friend Oscar....love how they wrap the noodles around them for floaties!
He smiled sooo much when he was in that pool - it's was a lot of fun to watch him.
Being in the pool with Ellie made me wish I could spend a little more time there myself, so I'm looking at starting some deep water exercise. A new session starts on Monday so I think I'm going to give it a try...no pictures though...I promise ;)
